What changed in each Notchify release. Updates arrive automatically through the Microsoft Store.

## 5.6.0

October 2026Latest

Screen recording, an island for every screen edge, and search in Settings.

### Screen recording

- New "Record" tab: capture your screen with system audio and mic. The island itself stays out of the video.

- While recording, the island turns into a small capsule with the timer, audio level, pause and stop.

- Watch, show in folder or delete your recordings right from the panel.

### Island position

- Place the island at the top, bottom, left, right or a corner. On the side edges it switches to a vertical layout.

- With an auto-hide taskbar, the island slides along with it.

### Settings

- Search bar (Ctrl+F): find any setting or tip.

- Segmented buttons and switches now slide between states.

### Refreshed

- Clipboard: a wider panel, bigger images and a new side preview panel.

- Redesigned notifications panel and music widget.

- Pomodoro is new: it keeps counting while the island is closed and alerts you when time is up.

### Fixes

- Fixed stutter in fullscreen games while music is playing. The island no longer draws anything while it sits behind a fullscreen app.

- Much lower idle GPU use while your microphone is in use.

- The island could wrongly drop behind windows on some PCs. Fixed.

- The Dark v2 theme no longer resets after a restart.

- Fixed a brief flicker when the island moves between monitors.

- The weather icon is now correct in every language.

## 5.5.0

October 2026

A new lyrics widget, a music player with lyrics, and an island that follows your cursor across monitors.

### Lyrics widget

- The whole song's lyrics over a background that flows with your album art's colors. The line being sung stays centered and fills in letter by letter.

- Click a line to jump to that moment. Drag the lyrics to scroll back and forth.

- Pin it: tap the pin icon on the widget and the island stays open showing just the lyrics. Tap again to go back.

- Add it in Settings > Widgets > Lyrics.

### Music player

- For songs with lyrics, the player widens and the lyrics flow on the right. Click a line to move through the song.

- Lyrics follow your theme's colors.

- The small visualizer in the top-right corner was removed. The visualizer on the collapsed island stays.

### Multiple monitors

- Choose where the island appears with display cards.

- New "Follow cursor" option: the island moves to whichever screen your cursor is on, instantly.

### Also

- The "Media Player" setting now only turns off the big player. The visualizer and lyrics on the collapsed island keep working.

- "Restart" in the tray menu now really restarts the app.

- Releasing a drag that started elsewhere over the toolbar icons no longer opens that tab by accident.

- The primary display is now labeled correctly in the monitor list.

## 5.4.1

September 2026

Also 5.4.0

Song lyrics and a redesigned settings window.

### Song lyrics

- While music plays, the island can show the lyrics being sung right now in place of the visualizer. They flow in short word groups with a smooth roll animation.

- Choose how many words to show per group (2, 3 or 4).

- On by default. Prefer the visualizer? Settings > Appearance > Displays > Now playing > Visualizer. Songs without lyrics show the visualizer instead.

### New settings window

- Settings are reorganized into macOS-style grouped cards. Cleaner and easier to read.

- Where it fits, toggles were replaced with segmented choices.

- The window now has a translucent glass look.

### Also

- The clock on the collapsed island no longer falls behind the system time while idle.

## 5.3.2

September 2026

A small fix.

- The clock on the collapsed island could fall behind the system time while idle (without moving the mouse). The island pausing its own repaints to save power was also pausing the clock. It now keeps ticking along with the system clock.

## 5.3.1

September 2026

Also 5.3.0

Seven new widgets, a new layout, and a big performance improvement.

### New widgets

- Audio Output Switcher: change your default speaker or headphones in one tap.

- Control Center: drag sliders for volume and brightness, plus mute and theme tiles.

- System, Disk and Network monitors: live graphs for CPU, RAM, drive space and network throughput.

- World Clock: the time in several cities at once, with a day-difference badge.

- Pomodoro: focus and break timer with a progress ring and adjustable phase lengths.

### New layout

- Carousel Grid: a two-column grid where each slot can hold several widgets; scroll the wheel over a slot to page through them.

### Performance

- Much lower CPU usage. The animation rate calms down automatically while the island is static and only runs full speed during expand and collapse.

- Freeze fix: the System, Network, Audio and Disk widgets now only query the OS while they are actually on screen. This removes the background load that could slow the whole PC and cut audio on some machines.

### Also

- Correct battery level for SteelSeries Arctis headsets over the 2.4GHz dongle.

- Option to keep the island visible over fullscreen games and videos.

- Added tips to the settings window and descriptions under the toggles.

- Improved text sharpness and Chinese/Japanese character support.

## 5.1.3

September 2026

Stability and language fixes.

- Fixed an issue where the app could freeze when opening the clipboard panel after copying a very large block of text.

- Completed translations: several labels on the clipboard, notification and task screens (e.g. Clipboard, Clear, Delete, "now/5m", "No Media Playing") now follow your chosen language.

- The Add Task dialog is now fully dark-theme consistent (including the date field).

- Faster startup; the delete/pin buttons on clipboard cards no longer start a drag by accident.

## 5.1.1

September 2026

A quick fix release right after the 5.1 smoothness update.

- Fixed a rare issue where the app could freeze and stop responding (most often while using the clipboard panel). The root cause was found and fixed properly.

- Faster startup: the island now appears more quickly.

- Tapping the delete/pin buttons on a clipboard card no longer starts a drag by accident.

- Thank you for the reports.

## 5.1.0

September 2026

Notchify 5.1 focuses on the thing you asked for most: smoothness. The island, the animations and your whole system now feel noticeably more fluid. This release also brings every big feature added since 4.x.

- Performance (the focus of this release)

- Notchify now runs much lighter and smoother: the expand animation, effects and transitions feel cleaner across the board.

- Fixed an issue where Notchify could slow the whole system down on some PCs, including a brief delay before your keystrokes appeared in other apps. That is gone.

- Greatly reduced background work and memory churn, so stutter is resolved on many more machines, especially multi-monitor and lower-end setups.

- Fixed a memory growth issue during long sessions.

- What's new

- GPU-accelerated rendering.

- "Hover to Show" mode: when the island is hidden, move your cursor to the top-center of the screen and it appears, even over fullscreen apps. (Settings > Behavior)

- Quick System Actions widget: lock, sleep, switch theme, mute, snip the screen, or open Settings in a single tap.

- To-Do & Notes widget: a checklist and a free-form note, right inside the island.

- App Shortcuts: pin your favorite apps, folders, and links to the island.

- Calendar now shows your next upcoming event.

- Bluetooth: battery level for your connected device and a cleaner, simpler connection card.

- Media: shuffle and repeat controls, plus a refreshed playback view.

- Design

- Redesigned island: softer "squircle" corners and a more authentic notch shape.

- New clock font, a new "Dark v2" theme, and a frame rate (FPS) setting from 60 up to 240.

- Thank you to everyone who sent detailed feedback. It's what made this update possible. If anything still feels slow on your setup, let us know from the Store page.
